I’m back in the game, baby! Knitting was great stress relief during the holiday season. I haven’t stopped since then. I’ve finally taken some photos of my stuff in progress.

First is a new slouchyhat. The first slouchyhat was knit two years ago…

…and while it is wonderful and serves me well, the yarn is soft and pilly. And pilled it has. Half the cabling is lost in pilling.

This time I’m knitting a bit of a chuinkier slouchyhat this time, using the Star-Crossed Slouchy Beret pattern and Berocco Blackstone Tweed.

The hat is knitting just a smidge loose, which I think will be helped by blocking. We’ll see. I like it, though. Simple and fast.

Not so simple or fast, but thoroughly enjoyable so far… the Omelet shawl.

I am not far into it, at all. But I can see the patterns developing. I spread it all out every few rows just to admire the shapes and the fact that all these yarnovers and decreases form such cool shapes. It’s my first proper fancy lacework, and so far it’s relatively simple, as long as I’m careful to follow the charts.

Last but not least, my sock.

Nothing special, just a ribbed sock knit with KnitPicks Stroll Tweed. It’s nice soft simple yarn and it’s nice to have a small on-the-go project. And to tote it in, I have…

A new Zuma bag!!

I have wanted one for awhile, after coveting a fellow knitter’s Zuma bag at a knit night. They’ve been hard to find, but I located one on sale online, and it’s finally made its way to me. I love that it’s a big sack bag disguised as a cute leather girlybag. :) And the fake leather is so soft and nice. And the extra pockets are just perfect. Love it love it love it.

What have you all been working on? :)

Not much in the way of news. I’ve been chugging along on my Shovelling Mask for winter, based on this awesome balaclava pattern. I’ve made it to the split.

I want it ASAP so I’m going to keep plugging at it. I hope to make armwarmers out of the remaining Drunken Pennsic Yarn, but we’ll see what’s left at the end of it. The colours are knitting up nicer than I had originally thought. Instead of pooling, it’s looking more like paint splashed onto the yarn. Results may vary on my armwarmers though, what with smaller circumference and all.

Back has been spasming like mad for awhile (in the midst of getting it inspected by medical folk) so a lot of knitting has happened. It’s nice. Not the back part, the knitting part. :)

It’s been quiet on the homefront!

I’ve been very busy with managing my home businesses. It’s extremely rewarding, but certainly doesn’t leave me with much personal time. The personal time I do get HAS been spent knitting, and the stress relief is incredible.

First off, some standard washcloths.

Knitting these for some friends who have recently had children, and a few new ones for me. I have way too much wash cotton sitting around, it’s time to use some!

Next, we’re up to 2 feet, unstretched, on the Doctor Who Season 15 scarf.

I’ve been knitting this between other projects. When I get tired of garter stitch, I move on to something else for awhile. It will eventually get done this way, no idea when! I like how it’s coming along.

Finally, I knit an anglerfish for the boyfriend.

He bought me the book Amigurumi Knits by Hansi Singh, and in exchange he asked for an anglerfish from the book. Happily obliged, and knit in his favorite colour, green.

More pics below, showing the bioluminescence along the back and other angles. The lure is bendable.

Next on my pattern list is a new pair of socks, a new summer hat, and possibly a hermit crab. Stay tuned!

So, long story sideways, two days into the Olympics, I changed my Knitting Olympics project. The mittens will still happen, but not in that deadline. I have too many modifications to make.

I switched to something doable in the time left: Zoe. I used to wear scarves/bandannas this way all the time, and I’d love a spiffy one to wear while the last of the chill in the air fades away. I’m using Noro Kureyon Sock in colorway 164.

Progress moves well, and I’m loving the colours as they’re knit up.

The only issue? Zoom in here. Two accidental yarnovers. One I attempted to fix and wound up Doing It Wrong with a string of stockinette. It kept doing that no matter my method, so I just left the other yarnover the way it was.

Meh.

I like this section of colour best.

I’m loving being able to knit again. Stress relief supreme!

Knitting. <3Like most, if not all knitters, I find knitting to be fantastic thinking time. I can sit with my knitting and some music on in the background, and sort out my thoughts.

Granted, I sometimes pause to make some notes in my notebook, but the knitting goes on, still!

I’ve been working on creating my own business out of the freelance design work I’ve been doing. It will take some time to get set up, but I have other work to supplement, and it will be worth the work, in the end.

Wait a second, you guys come here for knitting. I got sidetracked.

It was actually a sunny day today, perfect for taking over-sunned photos of the Rogue in progress.

For a change of pace from dark colours and cabling, I’m knitting a…. Cabled… Newsboy Cap. In black.

Never was one for intelligent choices. At least it will replace my completely worn-out crappy acrylic newsboy cap.

I was reading some sections of my Rogue pattern the other day while letting Yuffie chill out on my lap. I’m not sure if she approves or disapproves of Rogue.

All I know is, she sure as hell isn’t getting anywhere near the finished product with those teeth!
